Abstract

The main objective of the study is to examine the efficiency of PDS in rendering services to the society. The respondents (n=446) are randomly selected to represent the urban and rural areas of Thoothukudi district. The quality of PDS commodities and services is based on the urban and rural area. There is a relationship between irregular distribution of commodities and the time factor in FPS. The result shows that there exists a positive relationship between adequate quota and no bad smell. To reduce the irregularities in FPS, government should insist the public about the complaint lodging procedures against FPS malpractices.
