Abstract
Due to its high nutritive value, millets are regaining its much deserved attention in India. Traditionally millets were our staple form of grains consumed. Millets are environment friendly which can help us to attain food and nutritional security. Only during the last 50 years due the dominance of western culture, our pattern food consumption is shifted to rice and wheat by neglecting millets. Though there has been a growing awareness among the public about the millet based diet, due to its high price and less cultivation, it can’t be consumed by all. At this outset, this paper aimed to study the consumption pattern and factors determining the consumption of millets among urban women in Salem city, Tamil Nadu.
