Abstract

Sahajayoga Meditation is a highly developed and unique system of meditation which has tremendous mental, physical, emotional and spiritual benefits. Self-esteem means a person's overall sense of personal value and self-worth. Happiness is a state of feeling or showing pleasure. The present study was conducted to measure and analyze the effect ofSahajayoga Meditation on self-esteem and happinessstatus of working professionals. It was hypothesized that the meditators group would score higher on Self-Esteem inventory and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire as compared to the non-meditator control group. For this purpose an experimental group comprising of meditators(n=30) and a control group comprising of non-meditators(n=30)was used for the study.The results were analyzed statistically after implementing Sahajayoga Meditation as an intervention. The results showed that the score of Self-Esteem and Happiness were higher for experimental group.
