Abstract
In this paper attempt has been made to comprise overall and male-female labour force participation in agricultural and non-agricultural sector in the study area during 2011. The present study is entirely based on secondary data which is collected form District Census Handbook of Ahmadnagar, 2011. Sector-wise labour force participation is measured in terms of percentage of workers in agricultural sector, non-agricultural sector to the total main workers. It is observed that females are far behind as compared to males with respect to labour force participation rate in non-agricultural sector in the entire district. It is noticed that northern part of the district comparatively more industrialized, urbanized and agriculturally developed, which experiences more imbalances in male-female labour force participation than the southern part. The proportion of female workers has higher than the proportion of male workers, especially in agricultural sector and vice-versa in non-agricultural sector.
