Abstract
In past two decades Indian consumers go through a remarkable transformation. In past two decades the Indian consumers saved their income, purchase only those articles which is required for fulfils bare necessities only, he rarely satisfy themselves. But today, we see that equipped with higher income he turn to shopping culture like western countries and desire to improve their standard of living. The Indian consumers are spending like never before, because of organized retail industry provides variety of products and large malls, supermarkets attract him. In current, Indian consumers purchase addicted by supermarkets, malls, hypermarkets, discount stores etc. This paper firstly presents the global giants who are interested to enter in Indian retail market, their myths and realities. Secondly SWOT Analysis. Thirdly reviews the challenges faced by the Indian Retail Sector and success factors. Lastly suggest the recommendations before allowing FDI in Multi brand Retailing.
