Abstract

Health insurance plays an important role in ensuring health care access to the citizens of India. The level of penetration of Health Insurance in India has been continuously increasing; however, still there is a long way to go from single digit access figures to meeting at worldwide penetration levels. In current scenario medical expenses are becoming out of pocket for middle and middle class levels so we can imagine the condition of lower class too. Still we can say that the cost of medical insurance can be within the reach of common people.


Through this paper an attempt has been made to identify the reasons for non-subscription of respondents for health insurance in rural citizens of Maharashtra.
